EAST PALESTINE - William M. Powers, 77, of Aliciia Drive, Columbiana, formerly of Bye Road, died at 7:39 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past several days.
Mr. Powers was born March 29, 1936 in Chester, W.Va., a son of the late William A. and Mary Ruekauf Powers, and had resided in the East Palestine area until moving to Columbiana a year ago. He had been employed as a delivery driver with an area pop company, and later with Stroehmann Bakeries Inc.
He had been a member of the Negley Volunteer Fire Department from 1960 to 1977.
Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, the former Mary Burch, whom he married March 30, 1957; two sons, William E. Powers of Pennsylvania and George F. Powers of Salem; and two daughters, Beth Hill of Salem, and Marie A. Johnson of Port St. Lucie, Fla. He also leaves a sister, Margaret Ruth Hollowell of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with Pastor Douglas DeMar of the Salem Bible Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford. The family will have a private visitation.
