COLUMBIANA - Area residents will have the chance to win a $1,000 gift basket as part of "Springtime in Columbiana" to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3, and 4. Raffle tickets for the "Discover Columbiana" gift basket are available from Columbiana Area Tourism board members for a $5 donation to be used to help fund community tourism projects like the upcoming Wine Festival in June and the Arts and Crafts Festival in August in Firestone Park.
The basket represents the flavor of the city and includes theater tickets from the Dutch Village Inn and Crown Productions, a 10-round golf pass from Whispering Pines, and an overnight stay at the Columbiana Inn Bed and Breakfast, as well as many local business gift certificates and gifts donated by the city's businesses and retailers. Merchants on Main Street will be holding their annual open houses and sidewalk sales, and the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau will sponsor an open-air "French Market" in the parking lot of Grace Church on South Main. Vendors will offer yard sale and flea market items, antiques, food and a homemade cupcake sale.
Shops in the Dutch Village and at other shopping plazas in the city will also be gearing up for increased visitors during this annual retail shopping event that heralds in the spring season. The winner will be announced on May 7 and does not need to be present at the drawing. For information on where to purchase a raffle ticket call Tourism Board member Susie Bissell at 330-892-0218.
