Beaver Creek Candle Co. holding open house is today

LISBON - The Beaver Creek Candle Company's spring open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at its new store at 8330 County Home Road.

There will be raffle prizes, refreshments and special candle pricing. For more information call 330 424-0598.

Public invited to Amaranth spaghetti dinner on Saturday

SALEM - The public is invited to the Amaranth spaghetti dinner fund raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St.

Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under. The building offers a handicap accessible elevator.

Portable basketball hoop used in SHS play will be raffled off

SALEM - The portable basketball hoop used on set of "Salem High School Musical" will be raffled off.

Tickets are $2 and may be purchased at any of the musical performances at 7:30 p.m. today and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem High School. The hoop value is $315 and was donated to the school by the Moore Agency Inc.

Kitchen at VFW Post 892 will be open Saturday

SALEM - The kitchen at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

A variety of burgers and other menu items are available. The public is welcome.

Clothing giveaway, car wash high 'Great Day of Service'

SEBRING - A clothing giveaway and a $1 car wash will highlight the third annual "Great Day of Service" on Saturday in the Sebring and West Branch communities.

The event is sponsored by Acts 2 Ministries and its partner churches.

The clothing giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Acts 2 clothing closet at 636 W. Pine Lake Road and includes racks and tables of casual, school, and business clothing for adults and children.

The $1 car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at fire station #2 on South 15th St.

Many other activities planned for the day, include home repairs for individuals previously nominated by their neighbors as needing assistance; yard work in Beloit and Sebring by traveling groups of workers; visiting with and playing games with residents of Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center; litter pick-up along 12th and 15th streets; repairs, weeding and clean-up projects in Beloit and Sebring village parks and Sharon-Lynn group home near Salem; painting at the Goshen Township Hall; and a toy giveaway at a Sebring apartment facility.

Individuals wishing to volunteer for "Great Day of Service" projects are asked to meet at 8:30 a.m. at West Branch Middle School in Beloit for assignments.

Workers participating with the Acts 2 projects may be identified by the bright green T-shirts they will be wearing.

All projects will be performed free, and workers will not solicit contributions for their services. For more information call 330-938-2561.

Beekeepers' monthly meeting is Sunday at Metro Parks Farm

CANFIELD - The Columbiana and Mahoning County Beekeepers' monthly meeting begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Canfield Metro Parks Farm on Route 46 across from the fair entrance.

A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend and learn about the benefits of the "honey bee."

VFW Post 892 Ladies Auxiliary will meet Monday

SALEM - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the post home.

First Baptist Church sponsoring Monday's Banquet in Salem

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. Next week's sponsor is the First Baptist Church.

The menu offers tomato soup, ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cupcakes. Additional sponsors are needed.

Grace Lutheran Church food pantry will be open April 24

EAST PALESTINE - The food pantry of the Grace Lutheran Church will be open from 9:30 to 11 a.m. April 24.

The food distribution is open to East Palestine School District residents.

Survivors of Suicide support group will meet April 25

LISBON - Help Hotline Crisis Center's support group meeting of the Survivors of Suicide begins at 6 p.m. April 25 in the Columbiana County Counseling Center on Route 154. For more information call 330-424-7767.

DAHS Class of 1955 will meet

LISBON - The David Anderson High School Class of 1955 plans to meet for breakfast at 10 a.m. April 25 at the Taste of Country.

Volunteers needed for trail clean-up

LISBON - Columbiana County Park District is seeking volunteers to help in the spring clean-up of the Greenway Trail at 10 a.m. April 27.

Participants are asked to bring gloves and small tools and meet at Teegarden Road parking lot. For more information call 330-424-9078.

Area Singles announces meetings dates

LISBON - Area Singles has announced its schedule of meetings for next month. Meetings will begin at 6 p.m. May 1 at BB Rooners in Salem, May 8 at The Phoenix in Canfield, May 15 at Italo's in Lisbon, May 22 at Pinky's in New Garden and May 29 at Marty's BBQ in Salem.

Air Museum planning events for April 28

GREEN - The Military Aircraft Preservation Society Air Museum will hold its annual spring pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 on the west side of the Akron Canton Airport at 2260 International Parkway, just of Route 241 (Massillon Road) in the city of Green. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12, which includes admission and parking.

The museum will remain open until 4 p.m. Fly-ins are welcome and asked to call ahead so the gate can be opened for your aircraft. Various MAPS members will speak about their military experiences and aircraft including World War II veterans beginning at 9 a.m.

Pizza dinner will benefit the Baumgarners

LISBON - A pizza dinner benefit for Chuck and Sue Baumgarner will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. May 3 in the cafeteria at Beaver Local High School. Cost is $5 per person which includes salad and dessert. Donations will be used to defray transportation and medical costs for the family.
