DAHS?1953 lunch set Thursday

LISBON - David Anderson High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at noon Thursday at the Taste of Country.

Legion fish fry planned in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA - American Legion Post 290 will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

Leetonia 1962 breakfast set Friday

LEETONIA - The Leetonia High School Class of 1962 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Friday at Das Dutch Haus in Columbiana.

United 'Jubilee' planned this weekend

HANOVERTON - "Salute to Broadway," the 2013 Jubilee show, begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at United Local High School.

Salem clean-up volunteers needed

SALEM - Volunteers are needed for the "Downtown Salem Beautification Clean-up Day" to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Those attending are asked to meet at McCulloch Park, next to Troll's Jewelry on East State Street, and bring rakes, shovels, gloves, etc. All items should be marked with the owner's name. Bags are provided. Everyone is welcome.

'Legends' to perform at Salem Eagles

SALEM- "Legends of Rock" will perform on Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Dottie Reynolds as Patsy Cline will appear at 8:30 p.m. followed by Ernie Valley as Elvis at 9:30 p.m. Karaoke is scheduled from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The kitchen will be open from 8 to 10 p.m.

Columbiana High art exhibit set

COLUMBIANA - The 22nd annual Columbiana High School Art Exhibit will be held during regular library hours April 20-27 in the Salchow Room of the Columbiana Public Library. Original works have been created and arranged for display by Nadine Martin's art students. The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to Saturday, and closed Sunday. Admission is free and open for public viewing.

Salem VFW to host breakfast Sunday

SALEM - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 Men's Auxiliary is hosting a public breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post at 496 Arch St. Haystacks, or a traditional breakfast consisting of eggs, pancakes, hash browns, sausage patties, toast, orange juice, and coffee, are available. Cost is $4 per meal.

Volunteer Fair set at Emmanuel Lutheran

SALEM - The Volunteer Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from organizations that are looking for volunteers. There will be free refreshments and face painting, prizes and give-a-ways, and everyone receives a free ticket to win a basket from the basket raffle. Salineville Youth Sports dinner planned

SALINEVILLE - Salineville Youth Sports will hold its annual spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Salineville Fire Hall. Cost is $7. Carryouts are available.

East Palestine utility panel to meet

EAST PALESTINE - The Village of East Palestine Utility Committee will meet at 6 p.m. April 22, one hour prior to the regular council meeting.

EAST PALESTINE - The public hearing for the East Palestine Planning Commission scheduled for April 22 has been canceled.

Skin cancer screening offered

LISBON - The Columbiana County Health Department will hold a skin cancer screening on May 7 at the health department, 7360 state Route 45. Appointments for this free screening may be made by calling 330-424-0272.

Bayard Grange dinner scheduled

MINERVA - The last Bayard Grange dinner of the season will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19 at the grange on U.S. Route 30, on the east side of Minerva. The menu offers ham and cheesy potatoes, creamed chicken and biscuits, and chicken and noodles. The sides to all meals will be green beans, a choice of homemade cole slaw or applesauce, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for a large meal and $6 for small. For more information call 330-894-2902.

Beaver Township Crime Watch to meet

NORTH LIMA - Tammy Weaver from Stat Medevac will speak at the next meeting of Beaver Township Police Crime Watch at 7 p.m. April 23 at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road.

Swim clinic offered at Community Center

SALEM - The Salem Community Center is offering a two week swim clinic every weekday from May 20-31. There will be no practice on Memorial Day. The goal of the clinic is to prepare swimmers for their upcoming summer swim seasons. Participants 10 and under will swim from 4 to 5 p.m. and participants 11 and up will swim from 5 to 6 p.m. Cost is $55 for members and $70 for non-members. To sign-up call 330-332-5885.

Consumer Sciences scholarship offered

SALEM - A $150 scholarship is available for a college junior or senior majoring in family and consumer sciences or home economics or a related field such as dietetics, nutrition, child development, housing, culinary arts or interior design. A student who has completed half of a two-year program in this field is also eligible.

The Columbiana County Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is offering this scholarship to students residing in Columbiana County or a bordering county (Mahoning, Jefferson, Stark or Carroll). The application deadline is June 1. Applications are available from Diana Nordquest, 399 Shelton Road, Salem Ohio 44460 or be accepted but must be rimless and free of debris.
