Benefit dinner planned at Church of the Nazarene
COLUMBIANA - A spaghetti dinner benefit for Chad Cline, who is in need of a hearing aid, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. April 19 at the Columbiana Church of the Nazarene, 330 N. Elm St. Cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, beverage and dessert. Carryouts are available at 330-651-5870.
Cline is completely deaf in his right ear and needs a hearing aid for his left ear. His current hearing aid has broken several times and he needs to purchase a new one for $4,145. His insurance does not cover hearing aids or hearing tests and he must be able to hear alarms where he works.

Community education hike set at United High April 21
HANOVERTON - A community education hike begins at 2 p.m. April 21 on the nature trail at United Local School. Attendees are to meet in the parking lot at the baseball fields. Members of the high school envirothon team will be acting as trail guides. The one and a half hour hike will highlight the spring season in the forest and wetlands behind the school. Free Workkeys tests offered for entry to nursing field
LISBON - The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center Adult Education Department is administering free Workkeys tests to anyone interested in entering the nursing field at CCC&TC. Boardman Relay team to host dinner at Smokehouse April 28
GREENFORD - The Smokehouse at Greenford is hosting a benefit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. April 28 for Relay For Life of Boardman through team Faith, Hope, and Love. The dinner will feature a menu of pork, brisket, green beans, parsley potatoes and cole slaw. Tickets are $10 per plate, $7.50 for children 8 and under. Spring Fling returning
to St. Paul School May 4
SALEM - After three long years, the St. Paul Home and School's Spring Fling has finally returned. The "Night of a Thousand Chances" featuring casino games, a reverse raffle and prize baskets is slated May 4 at St. Paul School. A full buffet dinner will be provided by Evan's Catering and Planning for ages 21 and over. Cost is $35 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Each ticket includes entry into the event, appetizers, the full buffet dinner, dessert, soft drink, one reverse raffle entry, casino cash to start the night, and five tickets for the prize basket raffle.
Available for purchase at the event are additional prize basket raffle tickets, extra casino cash, additional reverse raffle tickets (a maximum of 200 will be sold), beer and wine and soft drinks.

United Local Concert Choir to perform in New York City
HANOVERTON - The United Local Concert Choir will travel to New York City April 25-27 where they will perform on Saturday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church following morning Mass. In preparation for this concert, they will present a concert at 2:30 p.m. April 21 at the Winona Friends Church. The concert is sponsored by the United Alumni Choir under the direction of Marian Izak who will also perform. Admission is free, however, a free-will offering will be taken to help with trip expenses.

West Branch to accept open enrollment applications
BELOIT- The West Branch Local School District will be accepting open enrollment applications from April 15 through May 15 for anyone interested in attending the district for the 2013-14 school year.
Applications for inter-open enrollment (students living outside the West Branch district) and intra-open enrollment (elementary students living within the district, but wishing to attend an alternative elementary building) will be available in the Superintendent's Office beginning at 8 a.m. April 15. The application deadline is 4 p.m. May 15. Applications will not be accepted after this date.
The West Branch Local School District will not be responsible for transportation of students from other districts or for students requesting to attend outside their elementary attendance area.
