BELOIT - William H. Moore, 86, of Beloit, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Meeker, Ohio, son of the late Boyd E. and Sarah (Clark) Moore.
Mr. Moore lived in the area most of his life. He married Irene Crew on Jan. 15, 1945. She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1989.
He was a retired truck driver from Anchor Motor Freight, had also been an independent driver for a time. He had also worked at the Lincoln-Mercury dealership as a mechanic. He was a World War II Army veteran where he received the World War II Victory Medal
Mr. Moore was a member of the Lisbon Lions Club and the Marion Moose Lodge #889.
Survivors include his children, Don (Judy) Moore, Nancy Smith, Bill (Janet) Moore, Chuck (Nina) Moore, Cheryl (Don) Herr, David (Susan) Moore, and son-in-law John Collins.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Betty Hoopes; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Clark and Joan Imbody; a daughter Patricia Collins; and a grandson Greg Smith.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral Home in Salem with Chaplain Donald Herr officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by the Salem Honor Guard.
