Goshen trustees set special meeting

SALEM - Goshen Township trustees will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. April 2 to interview and possibly hire reserve officers for the police department.

Veterans Outpost meetings held Tuesdays

Friends of Pioneer Village to meet

EAST LIVERPOOL - Friends of Beaver Creek State Park Pioneer Village will meet at 6 p.m. April 2 in the Trading Post, 12021 Echo Dell Road. Plans for the "Road to Gettysburg" on May 25 and 26 will be discussed. Volunteers are welcome. For information call 330-227-3939.

Farm Animal Baby Shower set April 7

CANFIELD - The public is invited to the Farm Animal Baby Shower, presented by Akron Children's Hospital, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road. Cake and punch will be provided while supplies last. Admission is free.

After April 7, the farm will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. On Sundays, wagon rides and a craft are available for $2 per person or $5 per family. For more information call 330-533-7572.

Roads to reopen in Mill Creek Park

CANFIELD - Effective April 8, the following roads in Mill Creek MetroParks will reopen to vehicular traffic for the season: Chestnut Hill Drive, between Canfield Road and the Kirkmere Spur. High Drive between the Kirkmere Spur and West Cohasset Drive and Calvary Run Drive between Belle Vista Avenue and Milton Avenue. For more information call 330-702-3000.

'Putnam Spelling Bee' auditions set

ALLIANCE - Carnation City Players will hold auditions for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" from 5 to 8 p.m. April 7 at the Firehouse Theatre, 450 E. Market St. Auditioners will be asked to sing with an accompanist provided. No a capella or singing to tracks. Call backs begin at 6:30 p.m. April 8. Auditioners must be at least 18 years of age. Small roles for older adults are available. Production dates are June 7-8 and 14-16. The show is directed by Lee Lavery, musically directed by J. Kim Lewis, and choreographed by Missie Gardner. Lifeguard training course offered

SALEM - The Salem Community Center is offering a lifeguard training course. Classes will run Monday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. April 15-26. Cost is $220 for members and $260 for non-members. Upon completion participants will receive lifeguard training, first aid, professional rescuer CPR and AED essentials certifications. To register call 330-332-5885.

Comcast Care Day planned in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana will host Comcast Care Day from 9 a.m. to noon April 27. Comcast employees will spend the day working side-by-side with families, friends and community partners to help clean up and beautify Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park and the Columbiana cemetery. Volunteers are needed to make this project a success. Breakfast will be provided in pavilion #4 by Mirror Lake in Firestone Park. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and sign-up at the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce office at 330-482-3822.
