SALEM -Geneva Mae Farnsworth, 73, of Salem, died at 12:07 a.m. Tuesday, March26, 2013 in the Emergency Room of Salem Community Hospital.
She was born July 8, 1939 in McConnellsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late David Dow and Lylis Iona (Nolan) Farnsworth.
Geneva graduated high school from Wesleyan Methodist Academy and graduated college from Wesleyan Methodist Bible College. She had been employed at Gordon Brothers? Water since 1963, starting out as cashier, progressing to bookkeeping and then office manager. Geneva retired Sept. 27, 2007 after 44 years, 4 months, 4 days, 4 hours and 4 minutes and set off on a trip out west to celebrate her new freedom.
She was a 50-plus-year member of the Salem Bible Methodist Church (formerly the Salem Pilgrim Church) and served as Sunday School teacher, secretary and treasurer. She also served on the Decorating and Entertainment Committees, served as church organist, board member and was the Church Treasurer since 1965.
Geneva enjoyed ceramics, scrapbooking and traveling. She loved entertaining and kept a record book of the many guests she hosted, many of them preachers, evangelists, missionaries and Bible School girls.
Survivors include several beloved cousins and many friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Salem Bible Methodist Church with Pastor Henry Miller officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Dale Cemetery in Dale, Ohio.
