- A caller at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday reported a speeding red truck in the 900 block of West Wilson Street. No vehicle matching the description was found.

- Police received a report at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday of an intoxicated juvenile walking around Centennial Park, but no one was found.

- An officer at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday saw a vehicle parked in the 800 block of East Sixth Street in an area posted for no parking and issued a ticket.

- A caller at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday reported drug paraphernalia in the form of a syringe laying on the ground in the 1300 block of East Third Street. An officer located the item and took it to the police station.

- An officer on patrol at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday saw damage to a utility pole at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Aetna Street. It appeared a semi trailer turning south onto Broadway struck the pole and left the area. Ohio Edison was being called to inspect the pole.

- Police were called at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday to check the well-being of a woman walking along East Pershing Street with her child. She was found and an officer affirmed she and the child were fine.

- A caller at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday reported a vehicle operating recklessly in the area of Southeast Boulevard and East Pershing Street. The vehicle was not found.

- A bicycle was reported found at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the retention pond at Bricker Farms Lane and taken to the police department.

- A dispute was reported at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of West Pershing Street, with both people involved saying it was just an argument over personal issues. There was no sign of violence.

- A spokesman for a business in the Salem Plaza at 2350 E. State St. reported at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday that two males and a female were in the store Tuesday acting suspiciously. He said they were in the store on Saturday, also, and divided the salesperson's attention. After they left, a drill was missing. On Tuesday, he said as soon as they found there were several employees in the store, they left. Area businesses were checked for the suspects' vehicle, but it was not found.

- A woman in the 500 block of Franklin Street reported at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday that her estranged boyfriend was at the residence and he's not supposed to be there. He had taken her cell phone, threw it and left before police arrived. She said she just wanted him out. The landlord gave her permission to stay, but had served the boyfriend with an eviction notice. Police could not find the boyfriend during a search of the area.

- A representative of Salem City Schools reported at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday that a suspicious call came in just after noon on the main phone line at the administration building, 1226 E. State St.

- A man in the 900 block of Highland Avenue reported at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday that he found two college-type books and an empty computer box at the back of his property. The items were taken to the police station and can be claimed by the owner with some type of proof of ownership.

- A resident on Jefferson Avenue contacted police at 11 a.m. Tuesday and reported concerns over some things that happened recently.

- Lifeline called at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday for police to check the well-being of an elderly male in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The man said all was okay and he had already talked to a nurse.
