ALLIANCE - James F. Martin, 85, of Alliance died Monday at Another Way, Alternative Housing in Beloit.
Mr. Martin was born in Paden City, W. Va., on July 22, 1927, the son of the late Orval J. and Iva E. (Mikes) Martin.
He was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran, serving during WWII and Korea. He was employed as a Fitter at Alliance Machine before his retirement.
He was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty L. (Eagan) of Alliance whom he married on June 30, 1950; three sons, Mike Martin of Alliance, Mark (Tina) Martin of Beloit, Jimmy (Darleen) Martin of Alliance; three daughters, Patty (John) Ruehle of Sebring, Sherry (Jim) Stoffer of Beloit, Christy (Tim) Harder of Homeworth; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Leona VanCamp, Margaret Savage and Myrtle Carroll. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Alliance Baptist Temple, 1441 West Vine Street, Alliance. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
