Crestview schools to close for funeral
COLUMBIANA - The Crestview Local School District will be closed on Wednesday so that staff and students may attend the funeral services for district art teacher Michelle Pelino.
Fish fry set at Salem Eagles Friday
SALEM - A fish fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Chicken dinners will also be available. Cost is $8.50 per person. A dance is scheduled from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the club. Music will be provided by Roadworks.
Barborak plans office hours in area

Dairy princess applications accepted
LISBON - The Columbiana County Buckeye Dairy Boosters will soon be choosing the 2013-14 Columbiana County Dairy princess. Contestants must have a dairy farm background, a Columbiana County resident, never married, 14 years of age and not over 25 as of June 1, 2013. SALEM - A comprehensive blood screening, sponsored by Salem Community Hospital's Outreach Services, will be available by appointment only on April 6 at North Lima Care Center, 11993 South Ave., North Lima. Cost is $40.

Free sibling class set at Salem Hospital
SALEM - To help siblings prepare for the arrival of a new baby, Salem Community Hospital's Family Education Program is hosting a free sibling class from 10 a.m. to noon April 13 at the hospital. The class will include age-appropriate discussions on the physical characteristics, behavior and care of newborns. A tour of New Beginnings Family Care Center, SCH's maternity unit, will also be provided. The class is open to ages 3 to 10, and participants must be accompanied by a parent. Spring craft show set at Salem Eagles
SALEM - The Salem Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual spring craft show/flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at the Eagles club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. A lunch of sloppy joes and hot dogs will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All activities will be held in the back of the club. Deadline to seek heat assistance
LISBON - Friday is the last day to apply for Emergency Home Energy Assistance, walk-ins only. Appointments are no longer being made for the Winter Crisis Program. All walk-ins are seen on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 8 a.m. Numbers will not be distributed before 7:30 a.m., therefore, clients will not be allowed on the premises prior to this time. There will be no trespassing from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
If you have applied between Nov. 1, 2012 and Feb. 15, 2013, and your application was left in "pending" status, you must make an appointment and re-apply for Winter Crisis Benefits. Clients are only eligible for Winter Crisis assistance once during the 2012/13 season. Any household with a member who is classified as permanently and totally disabled must provide proof at the time of the interview. All applicants must provide proof of gross, household income for the previous 90 days or 12 consecutive months, Social Security numbers, utility bills, lease agreement/rent receipt, and birth dates for all members of the household. Household income eligibility is based at 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
