LISBON - The David Anderson High School Class of 1955 plans to meet for breakfast at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Taste of Country.
United Schools accept open enrollment applications
HANOVERTON - New students who reside outside the district, but wish to attend United Local on open enrollment status for the 2013-14 school year may pick up applications in the superintendent's office at 8143 state Route 9 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., beginning April 1. All applications must be completed and returned by May 1. There is no space for open enrollment in kindergarten, first, second, third and fifth grades. Acceptance letters will be sent out by July 1. Parents wanting their children to attend United Elementary kindergarten may fill out an application but will be notified after Aug. 1 if space is available. Open enrollment students may have to provide their own transportation. High school students may be ineligible to participate in athletic competition for one year. Soil District offers trees, shrubs for pre-order
SALEM - The Columbiana Soil and Water Conservation District is offering 37 different trees and shrubs for sale. The pre-order deadline is April 12. Tree packets ordered through the program will be available for pickup from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 17-19 at the SWCD office.
The spring fish sale for local pond and lake owners offers various fish species. The deadline for ordering fish is April 5. The fish will be available for pick up at 2:30 p.m. April 9 at the SWCD office. To purchase trees or fish call 330-332-8732 or 877-345-1198 to request prices and an order form, or stop in at 1834-B S. Lincoln Ave.
Heroes and Halos offers training on autism April 20
COLUMBIANA - The Heroes and Halos is hosting a training for public safety workers and other health care professionals on April 20 at Crestview Middle School. The training will be conducted by Joni and Friends of Ohio and will be on autism and traumatic brain injuries. The public is welcome to attend this free training. Reservations are requested by call Kelli Harding at 330-692-1427.
Heroes and Halos will also host a training with Joni and Friends at Crestview Middle School for people who work in churches, schools and other venues that deal with people with special needs and disabilities. This training will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. April 20. There is a $10 fee for this event. For more information or to register call Harding.
