LISBON - A Rogers couple filed a lawsuit this week against Chesapeake Appalachia and Statoil USA Onshore Properties, Inc.

William and Theresa Shetler, Sprucevale Road, are claiming the oil and gas companies unfairly combined a small portion of their 76.7 acres of property into a pooled unit with other properties without the consent of the Shetlers. The lawsuit further claims this made less than .01762 percent of the Shetlers' property part of a pooled unit.

The Shetlers claim this unfairly holds the entire 76.7 acres of property indefinitely while no exploration for oil or gas has happened in the past five years.

The lawsuit requests the lease be terminated and a release of the lease be filed with the Columbiana County recorder's office.
