LOWELL - Jon R. Richey, 67, of Bear Creek Road, formerly of Petersburg, died Sunday at Marietta Memorial Hospital, following a recent illness.
Born Aug. 2, 1945, in Salem, he was the son of Nedra (Buchecker) Richey and the late Bill F. Richey.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Richey had been employed as a bus driver with Springfield Local Schools for over 30 years. He also worked as a driving instructor with Best Driving for 35 years. He had been a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and the Springfield Township Petersurg Fire Department Station #2.
In addition to his mother of Petersburg, he is survived by his wife, Gale Best Richey, whom he married Sept. 10, 1966; two daughters, Kristine (Brian) Wolford of North Lima and Karla (Gary) Deak-Ward of Lowell; two brothers, Garry (Lenore) Richey of Tempe, Ariz., and Dan (Peg) Richey of Petersburg; three sisters, Barb (Don) Migliore of Lakeland, Fla., Leeann (Cork) Wonner of Petersburg and Lori Sue (Bill) James of Unity; 10 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
The funeral service begins 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road, New Springfield, with the Rev. Jan Douglass officiating.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home in East Palestine (www.oliver-linsley.com).
