Amateur Radio Association's meeting, club dinner is today

SALEM - The Salem Area Amateur Radio Association's monthly meeting and annual club dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. today at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Luke Newbold, the new Emergency Management Agency coordinator, is the guest speaker.

Drive-thru chicken dinners sold today at First United Methodist

SALEM - "Chicken on the Run" drive-thru chicken dinners will be sold from 4 to 6 p.m. today, until sold out, at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.

The dinner includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

SAVNA will provide reading today at Leetonia Library

LISBON - Free blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation readings are available from 1 to 3 p.m. today, provided by the Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association (SAVNA), at the Leetonia Community Public Library.

New Waterford Class of 1957 will meet for breakfast

NEW WATERFORD - The New Waterford High School Class of 1957 will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the New Waterford Methodist Church.

Kitchen at VFW Post 892 will be open Saturday

SALEM - The kitchen at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 will be open from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday featuring a meat loaf dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and bread.

LEETONIA - Leetonia/Salem Township Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. March 14 in the Leetonia Community Library meeting room. Bob Campbell will present a hands-on program titled, "Antique Toys." Everyone is welcome.

Flowers, decorations need removed from cemetery

EAST PALESTINE - All flowers and decorations at Glenview Cemetery must be removed by March 15 or they will be discarded.

Salem Church Women United will meet at Emmanuel Lutheran

SALEM - Salem Church Women United plan to meet on March 25 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church parlor in the Education Building.

Fellowship begins at 1 p.m. provided by the ladies of the Phillips Christian and United Methodist churches.

The program is titled "Drug Task Force" provided by the Salem Police Department. Women of all faiths are invited.

Mill Creek MetroParks will hold children's gardening classes

CANFIELD - Mill Creek MetroParks will offer a children's hands-on gardening program this summer for ages 8 years and older or those who have completed second grade.

Weekly classes will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays from June 12 through August at the MetroParks Farm.

In preparation for the growing season, additional classes are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. March 23, April 20, May 18 and June 1 at the farm.

Each child will have a 3x10-foot garden to tend all summer long at the farm. The cost for the Veggie Garden program is $85 for Mahoning County residents and $95 for non-residents. To register call Fellows Riverside Gardens at 330-740-7116.

Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk will be held May 18

WARREN - The sixth annual Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk, a walk in memory of loves ones who died by suicide, is slated from 2 to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Trumbull County Courthouse Gazebo on Courthouse Square in Warren.

During the ceremony, names of deceased loved ones will be read. Visit to submit names of people who died by suicide.

County fair board will host community-wide yard sale

LISBON - The county fair board will host a community-wide yard sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 15 at the fairgrounds.

Outdoor spaces are $10 and indoor spots are $25, payable at time of registration.

The rain date is June 22. During the sale, 4-H members will serve barbecued chicken dinners.
