Salem News

The Salem High School Chapter of National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony on Feb. 28 with an impressive candlelight ceremony. Current officers conducted the program. Salem City Schools Superintendent Tom Bratten addressed the students. He was joined by Dr. Joseph Shivers who encouraged the new members to always do good things for others at home, at school and in the community. The guest speaker was Todd Olson, a former SHS graduate and class valedictorian. He is the current president of BOC Water Hydraulic Corporation in Salem. A portion of his speech focused on the letter "P." He emphasized to the graduating seniors as well as the new inductees to have a Purpose, Plan and Passion for whatever they pursue in their lives. Robert Viencek, NHS advisor, congratulated the 35 new members.
