SALEM - Robert "Don" Schnorrenberg, 94, of Salem, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Salem Care Center.
He was born June 12, 1918, in Youngstown, the son of the late Harry K. and Rena Hazel (Paxson) Schnorrenberg.
Before his retirement in 1979, Mr. Schnorrenberg had been a letter carrier for 26 years at the Salem Post Office. He was a member of the First Christian Church.
His wife, Betty Rogers Schnorrenberg, whom he married Oct. 2, 1940, preceded him in death Jan. 4, 2008. A daughter, Donna L. Keith; two brothers, Kenneth and Keith Schnorrenberg; a daughter-in-law, Karen Schnorrenberg; and a grandson, Bob Schnorrenberg also preceded him in death.
Don was a proud veteran of WWII who served with the U.S. Army's 613th Engineer Light Equipment Company.
Survivors include a son, Gary L. Schnorrenberg of Brooksville, Fla.; four granddaughters, Lynne (Vince) Richtar, Janet Schnorrenberg, Jess (Bob) Tonander and Liza Sprout; and two great-grandchildren, Karen and Johannah.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Thomas M. Smyth officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
