Community breakfast planned Saturday
DAMASCUS - A community breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road.
The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

'Drive by chicken dinners' will be sold
LEETONIA - The Leetonia First United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. is sponsoring a "drive by chicken dinner" from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 21, or until sold out.
Cost is $7 each. Dinner includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie. Customers are asked to drive by the front of the church and place their order.
The dinner/dinners will be delivered to your car. Proceeds from this fund raiser benefit the update and repair of the church foyer.
Lt. Valentine will address Crime Watch
NORTH LIMA - Lt. Daniel K. Valentine will speak at the Beaver Township Police Crime Watch meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 in the activity center at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road. Lt. Valentine will discuss recent area criminal activity and crime statistics.
A review of 2012 is also planned. Meetings are open to the public.
SCT hosting Night at the Races fundraiser
SALEM - Salem Community Theatre is hosting its inaugural Night at the Races fundraiser on March 9 at St. Paul School gymnasium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with post time at 7 p.m. for the races.
Tickets are $20 for ages 21 and older only and include dinner, beer, pop, and the ability to bet on 10 horse races. Throughout the evening there will also be basket raffles and a 50/50. Horses in each of the first nine races may be purchased in advance. Horses are $10 each or nine for $80.

'Operation Street Smart' is March 19
EAST LIVERPOOL - The Columbiana County Drug Task Force, the ADAPT Coalition, and the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board are sponsoring "Operation Street Smart," an award-winning, nationally renowned drug abuse awareness and prevention program which will be presented from 5 to 9 p.m. March 19 at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge.
Presented by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Operation Street Smart provides information on the following:
Current drug trends: What drugs are young people using?
How do young people get drugs and what can adults do to "stop the supply?"
Physiological effects: How do drugs affect young peoples' behavior; what should adults be "on the lookout" for?
Concealment: How young people hide their drugs? What should raise adults' suspicions?
Slang/terminology: How young people talk about drugs. What phrases or terms should raise adults' suspicions?
This program is open to all adults and is of special interest to parents, educators, and community leaders with an interest in reducing the drug problem in Columbiana County.
The program is free, refreshments will be served, child care is not provided. Registration is required by calling the MHRS Board at 330-424-0195. The registration deadline is March 8.
Fish fry will be served at Lisbon VFW 4111
LISBON - A fish fry will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4111, 210 E. Lincoln Way. Cost is $10 per person.
Dinner includes a 12-ounce haddock, either fried or baked, baked potato or fresh cut fries, cole slaw or applesauce and roll. Carryouts are available at 330-424-7586. Dinners will also be available at the same time on Feb. 22 and March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Indoor yard sale, flea market is Feb. 23
SALEM - The annual indoor winter yard sale and flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St.
Reservations for table rental are now being accepted by calling the Memorial Building at 330-332-5512. An 8-foot table with two chairs will be provided for $20. Lunch will be available for purchase.
