LISBON - Those adults interested in enrolling in the practical nursing program at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center can now take classes during the daytime.
According to Terry Hutson, assistant director of the adult education program, the completion of the health and science wing has opened up additional space for the program. Instead of sharing space with the high school juniors and seniors in the nursing program, the adult program now has space in the wing during the day.
Hutson points out the daytime hours make the program an option for the parents of school age children who want to return to school. Previously, adult nursing classes often ran until 10 p.m., making it difficult for families.

"We are going to schedule classes to start after school buses pick up in the morning to help parents that may want to return to school," Hutson said.
Registration has begun for the daytime nursing program, which is scheduled to start in September. The class takes one year to complete, giving graduates a start into the nursing field.
Those needing financial assistance may be eligible for several programs available, including the new Experimental Pell Grant being offered through the Career Center. Even those who have already completed a college degree may be eligible for the Experimental Pell Grant.
