Salem VFW kitchen to open Saturday

SALEM - The kitchen at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 will be open to the public from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The special is turkey or beef pot pies, mashed potatoes and gravy and bread for $4. A full menu is also available. For more information call 330-337-8015.

Swiss steak dinner set at Winona Friends

WINONA - The Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road will serve a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Family Life Center. The meal includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert. Cost is $8. Carryouts are available. For more information call 330-222-0200.

Southern Local school board to meet

SALINEVILLE - The Southern Local Board of Education's board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in room E136 at the junior-senior high school.

Oyster Soup Night planned in Negley

NEGLEY - Negley Masonic Lodge will host its annual all-u-can-eat Oyster Soup Night from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the lodge, 50873 Richardson Ave. A variety of other soups will also be available. Cost is $ 7 for oyster soup for adults, $6 for the other soups; and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available.

Scanner Club to host WinterScan

BOARDMAN - The Greater Youngstown Monitoring Association Scanner Club is hosting its sixth annual WinterScan at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St. Those attending are asked to bring any scanners programmable or crystal, working or nonworking, for the Winter Scan display and a coverdish or dessert to share for the potluck dinner. Salem Community Theatre offers special

SALEM - Salem Community Theatre will continue to offer a special promotion for the entire run of "Game Show," the highly entertaining, audience participation comedy running from Feb. 1-10.

For every reservation placed through the box office at 330-332-9688, patrons will receive a buy one, get one ticket free discount. Every fifth reservation will receive a special bonus.

Leetonia school board to meet tonight
