Matthew Todd spaghetti dinner benefit set

SALEM - The public is invited to the Matthew Todd spaghetti dinner benefit at 3 p.m. Saturday at AMVETS Post 45, 750 S. Broadway Ave. Cost is $6 for adults, $2 for ages 6 to 10 and free for children 5 and under. Coal country film to be shown at church

NORTH LIMA - A coal country film begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at Common Ground Church, 2310 W. South Range Road. Julia Fuhrman Davis will give simple ways to reduce fossil fuel use. Salem Library trustees to meet Monday

SALEM - The annual meeting of the board of trustees of the Salem Public Library begins at 4 p.m. Monday at the library. The regular meeting follows at 4:30 p.m. The Public Records Commission meeting starts at 5 p.m.

Steak fry planned at Lisbon VFW

LISBON - The public is invited to a steak fry and dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Feb. 2 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4111, 210 E. Lincoln Way. Steak or chicken will be available. Meals include salad, baked potato or fresh cut french fries, roll and coffee. Music will be provided by Cowboy Up. Admission to the dance only is $5 or free with a meal. Reservations are requested by Feb. 1; walk-ins welcome.

Salem 1969 lunch set at BB Rooners

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1969 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at BB Rooners.

Dog license deadline is Jan. 31

LISBON - All local dog owners are reminded that Jan. 31 is the deadline to purchase dog tags without a penalty.

If you received a pre-printed application use it when you purchase tags. The dog tags may be purchased through the mail at 105 S. Market St. Lisbon, Ohio 44432 with a postmark of Jan. 31 or earlier. Applications with a postmark after Jan. 31 will be assessed a penalty of $8 per dog, per license.

Kennel licenses can only be purchased at the Columbiana County Dog Warden at 8455 County Line Road, Lisbon. The Columbiana County auditor's office will no longer issue kennel licenses.

Outside agents will sell the 2013 dog licenses through Jan. 31 at $8 per license plus a 75 cent processing fee per application. After the Jan. 31 deadline, dog licenses will not be sold at the outside locations. They must be purchased through the auditor's office or at the county pound. Outside vendor locations include: Damascus General Store, Ace Hardware in Columbiana and Middleton, Carol's Corner in East Liverpool, Fuller's Hardware in East Palestine, Hanoverton Pro Hardware, Dickey's True Value in Negley, Yard Bark in Salem, Jenkin's Feed and Supply in Salineville, Center Pharmacy in Wellsville and Adrian's Restaurant in Calcutta.

Media sale set at Humane Society

SALEM -?A Media Sale will be held this Saturday at The Humane Society of Columbiana County (HSCC), 1825 S. Lincoln Ave. in Salem. Selections include DVD's, VHS, CD's and games from all genres including Comedy, Children's and Action. All proceeds support costs associated with the medical care provided to the abused, neglected and unwanted pets that HSCC cares for until their adoption.
