HANOVERTON- The United Local school board made several personnel moves at its regular meeting Wednesday night.
The board approved athletic supplemental contracts for the 2012-13 school year to Christine Grace, junior high girls track head coach; Ken Beaumariage, junior high girls track assistant coach; Luke Williams, junior high boys track head coach; and Rob Clunen, junior high boys track assistant coach.
The board also hired Bryan Martin of Lisbon as an afternoon custodian and approved the transfer of Vince Ward from custodian to maintenance/grounds helper effective Jan. 8.
Additionally the board approved a kick boxing and conditioning class for staff members beginning Jan. 7 for one hour two days each week for approximately six weeks at no charge with Jack Kilroy the instructor with assistance from Sue Laughlin and approved a credit flexibility application for the high school students traveling to China in June to earn a half elective social studies credit.
At its organizational meeting prior to the regular meeting, the board re-elected John Zehentbauer as president and Mike Phillis as vice president and retained its meeting schedule of 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month with an alternate day of the third Thursday.
The board also appointed as representatives to committees and positions as follows: OSBA annual conference delegate, Zehentbauer; OSBA annual conference alternate delegate, Phillis; OSBA legislative liaison, Mike Ellyson; acting board secretary when treasurer is absent, Sue Drotleff; PTO liaison, Lora Chestnut; Superintendent's Advisory Council, Phillis; student achievement liaison, Drotleff; athletic Council, Phillis and Chestnut; Audit Committee, Zehentbauer; and the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center (two-year term), Ellyson.
The board also retained Pepple and Waggoner, Ltd. Attorneys at Law, for legal assistance and approved a Legal Assistance Fund Consultant Service Contract with the Ohio School Board Association at an annual cost of $250.
The 2014 organizational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 8 in the high school Library.
