Salem Super Cruise meeting scheduled

SALEM - The first Salem Super Cruise meeting for 2013 will be held in city council chambers at 7 p.m. Jan. 23. City hall is located at 231 S. Broadway Ave.

SHS Class of 1958 will meet Saturday

SALEM - Salem High School Class of 1958 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday at Adele's Place. The class is also sponsoring the teen group at the ROC.

Elks Ladies Auxiliary will meet Tuesday

SALEM - The Ladies Auxiliary to Salem Elks Lodge #305 plans to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Grill Room. Members are reminded to dress warmly.

In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be canceled.

East Palestine Council will meet Monday

EAST PALESTINE - East Palestine Village Council plans to meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the park community center. The Utility and Development Committee meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Quilting Group will meet Monday

LISBON - The New Lisbon Fiber Arts Quilting Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Methodist Church on Washington Street.

Those attending will work on pillowcases for a community project. For more information call Cheryl Laughlin at 330-420-0001. All are welcome.

Demings retirees, ex-employees will meet

SALEM - Deming retirees and former employees are invited to breakfast at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Ruritans club co-sponsoring blood drive

DAMASCUS - The Damascus, Beloit and Goshen Center Ruritan clubs are co-sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Damascus United Methodist Church on Valley Road.

Quality assurance clinic is Jan. 17

LISBON - The first of four quality assurance clinics will be held at 7 p.m. Jan.17 at the Columbiana County Career Center on state Route 45.

Any 4-H/FFA member taking a market animal to the Columbiana County Fair in 2013 must attend a quality assurance clinic or pass a quality assurance test.

A fee of $2 per 4-H/FFA member will be charged for the training or test. For more information call the Ohio State University Extension office at 330-424-7291.

Testing dates are Jan. 12 and Feb. 18. Call to check eligibility for taking the test.

Salem Super Cruise meeting scheduled

BOARDMAN - The Potential Development Program's 2013 Mahoning Valley Pizza Cook-Off, presented by BeautiFloor, a division of Simon Roofing, is slated from 4 to 7 p.m. March 3 at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave., Boardman.

Tickets to the event are on sale now for $12.50 per person or $150 for a reserved table of 10.

Last year more than 1,000 people attended the event that raised over $38,000 for the Potential Development School of Autism.

All proceeds from this event will be used to support the Potential Development School of Autism and help expand its educational services to high school students.

Businesses and organizations interested in becoming involved with this year's event through a sponsorship or auction item donation are asked to call Shellie Duchek at 330-746-7641.

Free tax forms preparation being offered

SALEM - AARP tax counselors will prepare tax forms, free of charge, starting Feb. 5 at the Columbiana County Office on Aging in the Memorial Building on East State Street.

Taxpayers with income up to $60,000, disabled, and senior citizens are eligible for this free service.

Participants must have no more than five stocks or bonds and must bring last year's tax forms and property tax from the previous year.

Appointments will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

To schedule an appointment call 330-332-1163. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Fish fry will be held at American?Legion

COLUMBIANA - An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at American Legion Post 290. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

VFW's kitchen will be open on Saturday

SALEM - The kitchen will be open to the public from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892, 496 Arch St.

This week's special is a stuffed pepper meal with green beans, mashed potatoes with tomato gravy and bread for $5. Additional items on the menu will also be available.
