- A report was released Sunday regarding a Dec. 27 accident that kept state Route 14 closed for 12 hours. According to the report, Justin J. Martin, 42, Littleton, Colo., was driving a tractor-trailer east on state Route 14 when he failed to stop for a traffic light, entering the intersection of state Route 170. His truck struck a northbound vehicle driven by David A. Hardy, 50, Canfield. Both vehicles went off the road, and Hardy's overturned, striking a utility pole. Hardy was transported to St. Elizabeth in Boardman by East Palestine EMS. State Route 14 was closed while utility crews tried to clear the the roadway of fallen wires and restore power. The wires had fallen onto both vehicles as well as a third passing vehicle. Dorothy Sutton, North Market Street, East Palestine, reported electrical wires were torn from her house as a result of the crash. Martin was cited for the red light violation.
