Special prayers planned
at Greenford Lutheran
GREENFORD -Greenford Lutheran Congregation, a member congregation of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), will join other LCMC congregations all across the United States and in five foreign countries, to set aside a time for special prayers on Jan. 8, 9 and 10. On each of the three days, the sanctuary will be open to the community, for all who wish to gather for the purpose of worship and prayer.
Interim Pastor Dr. Michael Bennett has set the time for the special prayers at 10:10 a.m. He said he chose that particular time because the hands on a clock are in an "uplifted" position, reminding all worshipers to "lift up their hands in praise, intercession, and supplication before the Lord."
Bennett has also designated a particular theme or focus for each day's prayer-time, including"confession," "intercession" and "invitation."
Beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 17, and continuing each week thereafter, Bennett will lead an in-depth study of the Gospel of Luke. Each session will last approximately one hour, be interactive with lively dialog among participants and the study leader, and presented in "PowerPoint" format, with printed hand-outs for each participant.
