South Range BOE agrees to seek bids for work at athletic facility

BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The South Range Local school board Wednesday night agreed to seek bids for utility work at the athletic facility site across state Route 46 from the K-12 campus.

The utility work, which includes parking, electric and sewer, will be for the proposed board offices to be built on the site, according to schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham.

The board last month rejected the only bid it received for construction of a 2,000-square-foot board offices facility next to the sports complex due to it being more costly than the district can afford. The board is looking to spend only what it received in the sale of the district's old buildings.

The bid package was modified and re-bid. New bids were opened Thursday afternoon and action will be taken on the bids at the next board meeting, Dunham said.

In other business, the board approved athletic coaching supplemental contracts for the 2013-14 school year for Dan Yeagley, head football; Diane Krumpak, head cross country; and Larry Barth, head golf.

The reorganizational board meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the high school Band Room, immediately followed by the regular monthly meeting.
