EAST PALESTINE - Ethel Conkle Huston Barnhouse, 96, of North Pleasant Drive, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Covington Community Campus where she had been a patient.
Born Aug. 6, 1916, in Rogers, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Lillie M. Seidel (Conkle) Sr.
Mrs. Barnhouse had been employed as a waitress at the former Shafer House and Neil Restaurants, and later as a ward secretary for the former Salem City Hospital. She was a member of the Lake Mount Church of Christ since 1965.
Survivors include a daughter, Klare Meek of East Palestine; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Sandra Crawford, Carol Lommatzsch and Debra Booth; a stepson, Edward Barnhouse; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the Barnhouse side.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbur Huston, and later Richard Barnhouse; and two stepchildren, Judy Cox and Larry Barnhouse.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lake Mount Church of Christ in New Waterford, with Tim Postle of the church officiating. Burial will follow in East Carmel Cemetery in Rogers.
