Shari Lynn Smith and William Joseph Merdich of Leetonia were united in marriage on Sept. 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Leetonia.
The Rev. Teresa Smolka and Father Bob Edwards officiated at the couple's 11 a.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Smith. The bridegroom's parents are Charles and Jeanette Merdich of Leetonia.
Escorted by her brother, Doug Smith, the bride appeared in an ivory cap-sleeved, satin, side draped A-line gown with a sweetheart bodice covered in beaded lace and a chapel train. She wore a matching pearl and bead encrusted tiara and veil and carried a hand-wrapped bouquet of red roses accented by burnt orange lilies and red daisies.
Pamela Merdich, the bridegroom's sister-in-law, was the honor attendant.
Penny Hickman was a bridesmaid.
The flower girl in an apple red dress was Madelyn Steiskal, the bride's great-niece.
Charles Merdich, the bridegroom's brother, served as best man.
The bridegroom's nephew, Alexander Merdich, was a groomsman.
Gavin Steiskal, the bride's great-nephew, was the ring bearer.
The bride graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor's of arts degree in journalism and sociology. She is employed as a corporate benefits specialist with Employee Benefit Services of America in Boardman.
The bridegroom graduated from The Ohio State University-ATI campus with an associate's degree in landscape. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in parks and recreation/urban forestry from OSU.
A brunch reception followed at Drake's Landing in Canfield.
Following a honeymoon to Gettysburg, Pa., the newlyweds reside in Leetonia.
