Seasonal cantata planned in Columbiana
COLUMBIANA - "Peace, Hope and Joy," a seasonal cantata, will be presented by the Columbiana Nazarene Church choir at 7 p.m. Friday. The church is located at 330 N. Elm St. Refreshments will be served after the program.

SALEM - The Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 10 in the small dining room at the back of the hospital cafeteria. Betsy Williams, SCH assistant director of case management, will speak.
Films, benefit set at Common Ground
NORTH LIMA - Two films and a Goodness Grows benefit are scheduled in January at the Common Ground Church, 2310 W. South Range Road.
The "What's 'Organic' about Organic?" film starts at 6 p.m. Jan. 19. Elsa Higby will speak about the Rodale Institute's agriculture supported community training. The "Coal Country" film begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 26. Julia Fuhrman Davis will offer simple ways to reduce fossil fuel use.
The benefit is slated from 5 to 10 p.m. Jan. 12 at Glenwood Christian Fellowship Cafe, 7872 Glenwood Ave., Boardman. The menu for this dinner and coffee shop night includes soup, sandwiches, paninis, hot and cold drinks, all sourced locally by Kathryn Hatch of The Zaney Pearl. Water exercise gift certificates offered
SALEM - Gift certificates are available for Salem Community Hospital's Water Exercise Together (WET) program. The next six-week session begins Jan. 2 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. The program fee is $50, and classes meet two evenings per week from 6 to 7 p.m.
Water exercise is a fun and excellent way to tone muscles, burn calories, and improve cardiovascular conditioning and flexibility. Because water exercise causes minimal strain on the joints, it is a suitable fitness routine for men and women of all ages.
