Chester Paul Henry

EAST PALESTINE - Chester Paul Henry, 86, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center, Columbiana following a long illness.

Mr. Henry was born Aug. 8, 1926 in East Palestine, a son of Russell and Beryl Elliott Henry and had lived in this area all of his life.

Chet was a foreman for FC Russell Co. in Columbiana. He was also the owner and operator for Brown's Typewriter and Office Equipment in Beaver Falls, Pa., and had also worked for the Giant Eagle and Sparkle Market in East Palestine.

Chet was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, East Palestine where he attended the Wesley Weds Sunday School Class. He was a member of the George F. McBane Post 31 American Legion where he served as chaplain and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Chet rang bells for the Salvation Army and was involved with the local scouting groups.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn A. Brown, whom he married Dec. 2, 1950; a daughter, Lori (Ted) Yuhaniak of Salem; a son, Charles Henry of East Palestine; a sister, Nancy (Alvin) Kelley of New Springfield; two brothers, Russell Henry of New Middletown and Edwin (Jerri) Henry of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Tom Yuhaniak, Ted Yuhaniak, Betsy Yuhaniak, Jeffrey Henry and Regis Collins; and two great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Henry, a sister, Peggy Henry and a brother, William Henry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the East Palestine Honor Guard. Friends may call from noon until 2:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Donations in Chet's memory may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center.
