SALEM REPORTS

- Officers responded to a private property crash in the 2400 block of East State Street at 2:18 p.m. Friday in which Jarrit D. Manley, 25, Salem, claimed that he had slammed on his brakes while traveling northbound in the main lane of the Giant Eagle parking lot approaching East State Street to avoid a collision, causing his dog to slam into the windshield, shattering it and damaging the center console. The driver of the westbound vehicle, Debra L. Waite, 54, Salem, claimed that both had stopped at the intersection, started forward and then slammed on their brakes. The vehicles did not collide and no one was cited.

- Police responded to a Short Avenue home at 6:58 p.m. Friday after officers were advised of several people in a vehicle possibly transporting guns stolen from a Crestview Road home in Leetonia being investigated by the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. Officers recovered four guns in the basement and charges are pending an investigation. During the investigation, Michael P. Esenwein, 538 W. Park Ave., Columbiana, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana Police Department.

- A Sharp Avenue resident reported on station at 11:19 p.m. Friday that while he was at work that day, a man he had already warned to stay away from his girlfriend had been banging on his door while the girlfriend was inside. The resident played for officers three harassing voice messages from the man toward his girlfriend.

- Police responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 1:08 a.m. Saturday in reference to a suspicious man attempting to gain entry into vehicles in the parking lot. Officers found the man walking away when they arrived. He claimed that he was just walking through on his way home and denied the accusation.

- Officers responded to a 1200 block East Third Street home at 1:20 a.m. Saturday where a woman reported someone had entered five vehicles in the driveway, rummaging through the glove boxes and center consoles, but only taking loose change.

SALEM TOWNSHIP REPORT

- Robert Kaiser, state Route 45, reported a tenant at the motel where he has been living was evicted. Kaiser said there had been problems between the two and, Friday morning, he discovered someone had let the air out of his front left tire. A suspect vehicle was seen by a neighbor shortly after midnight.
