SALEM - Betty L. Starlin, 78, of Salem, Ohio, died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at the Salem Community Hospital.
She was born Feb. 10, 1934 in Ripley, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Isaac Lewis and Docia Pearl (Scyco) Hornbeck.
Before her retirement she had work as a typesetter for 32 years at American Paper Products and had previously worked at K.F.C. as a prep cook for eight years.
Her first husband, David Pethtel, and her second husband, Jack Starlin, preceded her in death. She was also preceded by four sisters, Bertha Adkin, Nelly McCullough, Martha Law and L. Ernestine Hall and four brothers, Warren, Walter, Harry and Calvin Hornbeck.
Survivors include two sons, David (Denise) Pethtel of Negley, Ohio and John (Nancy) Pethtel of Negley; two daughters, Barbara Pethtel of Salem and Carol (Jim) McCowin of Salem; a brother, Isaac (Beverly) Hornbeck; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Ray officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kimble Cemetery in Elkton.
