Dr. Michael J. Traina, a U.S. Army veteran, was the guest speaker at the Crossroads at Beaver Creek assisted living facility's Veterans Day celebration Nov. 13.
A combat medic, Traina began serving in 1958. He was deployed for the Berlin Wall in 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Later he was a training sergeant for future medics during the Vietnam Era. He has two honorable discharges and two commendations.
Former Columbiana County commissioner Penny J. Traina is the executive director of the Beaver Creek facility. The two are not related.
