ROGERS - Pearl Young, 87, of Sprucevale Road, formerly of East Palestine, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at the Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana, where she had resided for the past few years.

Born Aug. 4, 1925, in East Palestine, she was the daughter of the late Lester J. and Elsie (Morgan) Stallsmith.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Young had been employed at area restaurants, as well as the former M & W Electrical Manufacturing in East Palestine.

She was preceded in death April 1, 2002, by her husband, Leon R. "Corky" Young, whom she married Oct. 24, 1973.

She also was preceded in death by a stepson, Leon Young Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Fink of Aiken, S.C., and Janet Whittet of Rogers; three sons, Jerry Peebles of New Waterford, Daniel Peebles of Rogers and David Peebles of Indiana; three sisters, Susan Felger of East Palestine, Louise Buchner of Arizona and Mae Bounds of Norfolk, Va.; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, John Young, Deborah Patschke, Cindy Smith and Jeanne Flory, all of Palmyra, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home (www.oliver-linsley.com) in East Palestine with David Rose officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
