Salem 1954 breakfast set at Salem Hills

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1954 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Kiwanis to meet at Community Center

SALEM - The Salem Kiwanis Club will meet for lunch at noon Thursday at the Salem Community Center. Connie Fenton from Carlene Farms in New Philadelphia will present the program.

Salem Amateur Radio Association to meet

Pool tournament set at Salem Eagles

SALEM - A double elimination pool tournament is slated Friday at the Salem Eagles Club. Sign-ups begin at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $5.

Fish/chicken fry offered at Beloit FD

BELOIT - The Beloit Fire Department Association will host its last fish and chicken fry for 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at station #1, 17893 E. Fifth St. Cost is $10 for an adult meal and $5 for children under 10. There also will be a 50/50 drawing.

Pet photos with Santa scheduled

LISBON - Family/pet holiday photos with Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lisbon Gazebo. All proceeds benefit the Voice for Columbiana County Dogs, a volunteer, non-profit group raising funds for all sick/injured dogs in the Columbiana County Dog Pound.

Christmas Tea and Bazaar planned

SALEM - A Christmas Tea and Bazaar, hosted by Ozer Ministries, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave. A $5 donation will benefit Domestic Violence Awareness. A variety of vendors will have items for sale. You do not have to attend the tea to shop. All attendees will be entered in a drawing at 3 p.m. for a gift basket that includes a Walmart gift card. Christmas auction set in Washingtonville

WASHINGTONVILLE - Donations are still being accepted for the Christmas auction, conducted by Dick and Cheryl Zuti, at 5 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5532 on County Line Road. Doors open at 3 p.m.

Items include brand name toys, "As Seen on TV" items, tools, gifts for men and women, collectibles, Christmas decorations, team sporting goods, etc. The auction is sponsored by the ladies auxiliary. Door prizes will be awarded. A concession stand will be open.

Miles for Morgan 5K Fun Run/Walk set

WINONA - The Miles for Morgan 5K Fun Run/Walk fund raiser begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Winona Friends Church, 4615 Whinnery Road. Proceeds from "Miles for Morgan" will be given to Morgan Loudon who has stomach cancer. A free T-shirt will be given to the first 100 people who register. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Cost is $20. Awards will be presented and water available. Pre-registrations may be dropped off at the church or mailed to the church at P.O. Box 33, Winona, Ohio 44493. 'Soup to Go' offered in Washingtonville

GED testing offered in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - Official GED testing, sponsored by Choffin Career and Technical Adult Education Department, begins at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 18 and 19 at the Choffin Career and Technical Center. Craft class set at Salem Library

SALEM - The Getting Crafty class begins at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Salem Public Library's Quaker Room. Attendees will make and decorate a candy jar. All materials are provided. The class is open to adult participation and is free of cost. Register by stopping in at the adult services desk or calling at 330-332-0042.

Elkrun trustee meetings scheduled

ELKTON - Elkrun Township trustees plan to meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and 26 at the township administration building on state Route 154. The public is welcome to attend.

LISBON - Columbiana County Families of Homicide Victims Inc. founder Belinda Puchajda is sponsoring a toy drive this year for children in need. The toy drive will be held in honor of her mother who passed away on April 27.

"My mom always catered to the needy and homeless and I would like to do this in honor of her," said Puchajda. This year's toy drive is for children of all ages who have fallen through the cracks of the system and are not on any other list. "We already have 22 kids from ages 2-17 years old that are in need." Donations may be made at the website www.ccfhv.com (put "toy drive" in the subject of your donation) or by dropping off your unwrapped gifts at Barborak Law Office in Lisbon, East Liverpool City Hall auditor's office, Legends in East Liverpool or KLG Ambulance in Salem. Gifts will be delivered between Dec. 21-24. Anyone knowing of a needy family that qualifies is asked to contact Puchajda at 330-397-1978.

NORTH LIMA - Dec. 15 is the deadline to drop off items for the Adopt an Angel's fifth annual Holiday Gift Drive. Drop off locations include:

North Lima Business Complex, 11836 South Ave., North Lima, 330-531-1705; West Side Cats, 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, 330-792-4228; Trumbull County Adopt an Angel, representative Lisa Zarconi, 330-881-9096. Special pick-up is available for those who qualify.

Items needed include school supplies, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, clothing, blankets, towels, toiletries, dog/cat food, cat litter, newspaper, office supplies, furniture, children's toys, books, leashes, collars, gift cards, monetary donations. All items collected will be given locally to families and/or animal rescues in need this holiday season.
