SALEM - Eleanor M. Wilson, 96, of Continental Drive, died at noon Thursday at Essex III of Salem.
Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Youngstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruby (Chidester) May.
Being blind from birth, Mrs. Wilson had many great achievements during her lifetime. She graduated valedictorian from Chaney High School and was an accomplished piano player and guitar player, playing in area traveling bands in her younger years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lisbon First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Wilson, whom she married Nov. 13, 1936; and a daughter, Kathy Strong.
Survivors include her daughter, Arlene Sinclair of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, Wayne (Kathy) Wilson of Columbiana, Rod (Susan) Wilson of Salem and Tod (Patty) Wilson of Kingsport, Tenn; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- granddaughter.
The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date.
