Forever Safe Farm fund-raising gala set at Salem Golf Club

SALEM - The Forever Safe Farm Animal Education Center's fund-raising gala and auction begins at 6 p.m. today at the Salem Golf Club. This event focuses on the efforts of Forever Safe Farm to bring to life what is to become Forever Safe Chimps. One hundred percent of fund-raising proceeds goes directly to the building fund for the chimpanzee facility. David Sommers of David Sommers & Associates, LLC will unveil the first glimpse of what the chimp building will look like. There will be live and silent auctions with over 130 items contributed items by local and national businesses and supportive individuals. SALINEVILLE - The Columbiana County Firefighters Association's meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Salineville Volunteer Fire Department.

'Small Town Christmas' set

at North Georgetown sites

NORTH GEORGETOWN - The public is invited to "Small Town Christmas" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23 and 24 featuring tours of selected gift shops at eight area establishments. Each site will be selling Christmas ornaments with proceeds donated to local schools to help needy families.

Sites include: Susie's Gifts and Things, 24656 Georgetown Road, 330-904-7196; Petals and Pastries, 27863 Shoemaker Road, 330-525-5272; Shady Top Primitives and Gardens, 4668 Rochester Road, 330-525-7203; Custom Tinware, 5248 Rochester Road, 330-525-7426; Don and Kathy Pfaff's barn, 28151 Mountz Road; Grammie's Place, 8610 Rochester Road, 330-894-2901; Woolf Farms, 26533 Summers Road, 330-525-5128; and Ted and Dianna Hawk's home, Summers Road off Rochester Road.

Santa will visit with children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 at Susie's Gifts and Things. Each child will receive a stocking filled with goodies, gloves and toys provided by the owners.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 27485 Main St. Homecooked meals will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 24 at the First Brethren Church, 27333 Main St. Maps of sites are available at all shops and the Stage Coach Inn.

Crime Watch to meet

BEAVER TOWNSHIP - The Beaver Township Police Crime Watch meeting begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 in the activity center at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road. Winter safety and holiday shopping tips will be discussed.

Brain health program to be offered in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA - Registration is required to attend a free brain health program presented by Patrick Hartory from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Columbiana Public Library. Stop in or call the library at 330-482-5509 to sign up.

Christmas Boutique planned at First United Methodist

SALEM - The First United Methodist Church at 244 S. Broadway Ave. will hold its second annual Christmas Boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 30 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1. The boutique is organized and sponsored by the Womens Wednesday Morning Bible Study group. There will also be a soup and sandwich lunch on Friday and a cookie walk on Saturday.

Leetonia/Salem Twp. police plan Chrsitmas aid program

LEETONIA - Once again, the Leetonia Police Department (LPD) and Salem Township Police Department are sponsoring the "Care and Share Program" which provides for area families in the Village of Leetonia and Salem Township areas.

Due to the variety of ages and interests, the program has been limited to meet the needs of those they assist. To contribute to this program, the following items would be greatly appreciated: monetary donations and gift cards/gift certificates. Family/individual sponsorships are also available.

Items may also be dropped off at the LPD or mailed to: Leetonia Police Department, Attn: Chief Soldano, 300 E. Main St., Leetonia, Ohio 44431. For information call the LPD at 330-427-6731.
