COLUMBIANA - What caused a single-wide mobile home to catch fire Thursday at Lynn Trailer Court has yet to be determined, Fire Chief Rick Garrity said.
The department responded to the fire at Lynn Mobile Court at 3:44 p.m. and found it fully involved. It began in the front, kitchen area, he said.
Francis Macry and his wife were inside sleeping when the fire ignited and woke up to the smell of smoke in the house. They were able to get outside and call the fire department, but most of the damage had already been done, he added.
"(The fire) was through the roof when we arrived. The damage was pretty extensive to the building itself," Garrity said.
There were no other people or animals inside the home owned by the couple, and they were not injured in the escape.
The department spent about five hours battling the blaze and mutual aid from other departments was not needed.
Garrity said that while the cause remains undetermined at this time it does not appear suspicious in nature.
