SALEM - Richard Oscar Clay, 83, of Perry Township, Salem, died Tuesday afternoon at his home.
He was born on July 31, 1929, in Green Township, Mahoning County, Ohio to the late Oscar and Dorothy (Schaal) Clay.
He was a brick mason with the Brick Layers Union # 8 and a member of the Corvette Club.
He is survived by his children, Susan Frederburg of Arlington, Va., Nancy (husband Donald) Chace of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Gerald (Wife Sandra) Clay of Homeworth; siblings, Roger (Wife Sharon) Clay of Salem and Karen Conrad of Alliance; the grandchildren, Laurie Paz, Sean and Lindsay Frederburg and Jessica Chace; the great-grandchildren, Ben, Ethan and Gracie Paz.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Louise Meier, on July 30, 2009, a son Richard Clay, and a sister, Jean Taylor.
Services will be held on Saturday, 3 p.m., at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral Home, Salem, the Rev. Louis Raymond officiating. The burial will follow in Damascus Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
