ALLIANCE - John W. Bandy, age 92, formerly of Alliance, passed over quietly in his sleep with loving family members at his side at 3:43 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Maison Aine' in Stow.
He was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Columbiana County, to Irvin J. and Estella M. (Slusser) Bandy.
He started his education at Union Grove one-room school house and graduated from Alliance High School in 1938. He was a successful lifetime dairy farmer, owning and operating Bandy Farms.
Mr. Bandy was a life member of Bethel United Church of Christ, member and chairman of the Farm Bureau Council, and member of Tri-County Producers Association, the Agricultural Stabilization Committee and a lifetime member of the Holstein Fresian Association. He also enjoyed reading, word searches and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Wilda J. (Williams) Bandy whom he married Feb. 26, 1945; children John H. (Pam) Bandy of Alliance, Carol J. (Dan) Conser and Dianna L. Bandy, both of Beloit; Gregory I. (Chris) Bandy of Alliance, Deborah M. Buchs of Sebring, and Brenda M. (Tom) Magier of Munroe Falls; sister, Sharlet Byrne of Alliance; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Evelyn, Burdella, Helen, Laura and Dortha; and two brothers, William and Tommy.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Haan A. Phelps officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
