Visiting Nurses offer flu shots

SALEM - The Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association will administer flu shots from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at 718 E. Third St. Cost is $20. SAVNA will bill Medicare Part B or Anthem Senior Advantage Products (YRA, YRE, YRI and YRS prefixes only). Bring your insurance card with you.

'Going Batty' program set in Lisbon

LISBON - Camp Fire's Program Director, Kathy Monteleone, will present the program, "Going Batty," from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Lisbon Montessori Preschool, 233 E. Washington St. She also will present the bat program from 1 to 3 p.m. today for the first grade at McKinley Elementary, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at McKinley for the other half of the first grade.

Salem 1945 lunch at Salem Hills

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1945 will meet for lunch at noon Wednesday at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Salem Kiwanis lunch set Thursday

SALEM - The Salem Kiwanis Club will meet for lunch at noon Thursday at the Salem Community Center. A program will be presented by Kristin Price from the Salvation Army.

St. Paul LCBA to elect officers

SALEM - Officers will be elected when the Loyal Christian Benefit Association meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul School gym. Those attending will also plan the memorial Mass and play bingo. Guests are welcome and asked to use the kitchen entrance.

Fish fry at Columbiana Legion post

COLUMBIANA - An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Post 290. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

Middleton Fish and Game Club fish fry

NEGLEY - A fish fry will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Middleton Township Fish and Game Club, 50501 Richardson Ave. Dinners are $10 and include haddock, macaroni and cheese, french fries, cole slaw and bread. Call ahead service is available at at 330-426-9755.

Movie at First United Methodist

SALEM -A family friendly popular animated children's movie will be shown beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. Admission is free to the public. Popcorn and punch will be provided.

Damascus Ruritans to host breakfast

DAMASCUS - Damascus Ruritans are hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Road. The West Branch Area Ladies will hold a bake sale during the breakfast.

Election Day luncheon at EP church

EAST PALESTINE - Centenary United Methodist Church will host an Election Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 in the church fellowship hall at 40 S. Market St. The meal includes soup, bread, pie and beverage for $5. Featured soups include chicken noodle, beef vegetable and broccoli cheese. WASHINGTONVILLE - The " Soup to Go" drive-thru will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Robbins United Methodist Church, 100 High St. Different varieties of homemade soups are available in quarts starting at $6 each. For more information call 330-427-2035.

SALEM - The Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 8 in the small dining room at the back of the hospital cafeteria. Lyn Pethtel, SCH director of CQI /Infection Control, will discuss "Delivering Excellence." The public is invited.

Open House at New Castle trade school

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - The New Castle School of Trades will hold an open house from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8. The school recently celebrated its one-year anniversary in its new facility at 4117 Pulaski Road New Castle, Pa., that opened in July 2011. New Castle School of Trades programs provide quality hands-on training and have produced thousands of skilled graduates, employment ready for business and industry. Holiday Open House and Gift Market

EAST PALESTINE - The annual Holiday Open House and Gift Market at the Unity Grange will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10 a.m. to 4 pm. Nov. 10. The grange is located on state Route 170. Local artisans representing unique gifts and wares include: Sycamore Alpaca Farm, Tina Dilworth; Jones and Associates Embroidery, Diane Jones and Julie Jones; The Paint Box, Diane Carlisle; Miche & Me, Molly Stevens; Cookie Lee Jewelry, Lori Nestor and The Paintin' Parlor, Jo McDevitt . Century and Emanuel Youth Group will present a bake sale to benefit their many supportive services.

The grange will serve a luncheon daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring made from scratch sandwiches, soups, pies and desserts.

Homespun Christmas Tour in Leetonia

LEETONIA - The 17th annual Homespun Christmas Tour is slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9, 10, 11, 24 and 25. Selected area artisans will present their homecrafted wares for you to view and purchase, providing gift and decorating ideas for the holidays. Each stop will have a door prize drawing and a cash drawing will be held for those who stop at every location.

Texas Hold-Em Tournament planned

NEGLEY - A Texas Hold-Em Tournament, featuring 100 seats available with an 80 percent payout, begins at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Middleton Township Fish and Game, 50501 Richardson Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. The entry fee is $50 with re-buy ins during the first hour. Soup luncheon at Franklin Square church

Screening at library

LEETONIA- Starting Thursday, a nurse will be available from 1to 3 p.m. on a monthly basis at the Leetonia Community Public Library to provide screening for blood pressure, oxygen saturation and heart rate. Also on Thursday, Lori from Hearing Aids and Devices will screen for hearing tests from 1 to 2 p.m.. People who sign up for a hearing test will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket. No actual tests will be done on that date.

New Waterford meeting set
