SALEM - Catherine Marie Keeler, 91, of Salem passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at the Salem Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 31, 1920 in Sebring, the daughter of the late William and Clara Penny.
Catherine worked for 25 years as the receptionists for Dr. Willard Stamp O. D. and Dr. Bud Herron O. D.
She was a 1939 graduate of Alliance High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Salem. Catherine loved flowers and gardening.
She loved to go fishing in Canada with her beloved husband, Richard Keeler, who passed away on Oct. 2, 2005. They were married on Sept. 23, 1942 in Alliance at the Methodist Church. They were blessed to be together for 63 years of marriage.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Richard) Sneltzer of Salem; a son, Richard (Janet) Keeler of Cape Coral, Florida; a sister, Barbara Swinton of Tiverton, Rhode Island; a brother, John (Wilma) Penny of Alliance; grandsons, Jason (Melissa) Sneltzer of Salem and Ryan Sneltzer of Akron; granddaughters, Kristyn Mackay of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Shelly Keeler of Lebanon, Pennsylvania and great grandchildren, Ethan and Owen Mackay, Mikayla Sneltzer and Nathan Blake.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and William Penny.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas George officiating. Calling hours will be held one hour before the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
