SALEM - City police were investigating a multiple-injury pedestrian/motor vehicle accident in a parking lot near the restrooms and tennis courts at Centennial Park Tuesday night, with charges pending against the driver.

Lt. Dave Casto said late Tuesday that they were still trying to sort out the details. The accident with injuries was reported at 7:25 p.m. in the parking lot, with fire department first responders, KLG Ambulance and EMT Ambulance all responding.

According to Casto, there was an alleged altercation in the parking lot between the 19-year-old female driver and some other females. She and her passengers attempted to leave when she allegedly lost control of her vehicle, striking some people in the parking lot and striking a parked car.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, according to Casto, with mostly scrapes and bruises for the several people injured. The driver was also injured, along with one of her passengers. Another of her passengers fled and was being sought by police.

More details are expected to be released today.
