SCH’s annual Mommy and Me Baby Fair is Saturday

SALEM - Area families and expectant parents are invited to attend Salem Community Hospital's eighth annual Mommy and Me Baby Fair on Oct. 27 at the Center Circle Indoor Sports Complex on the campus of the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem.

Co-sponsored by the SCC, Salem Wal-Mart and the Charitable Foundation for Salem Community Hospital, the free event is from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include information for families, a Halloween costume contest, "Diaper Derby" baby races, games and activities, souvenir photos, refreshments and prizes.

Information fair

SCH clinicians and local agencies will provide displays and information on childbirth, parenting, health and safety, and services available to young families.

Participating from the hospital are New Beginnings Family Care Center; emergency department; laboratory; environment of care; Behavioral Medicine and Wellness Center; food and nutrition services; the Charitable Foundation; pediatric speech therapy; Columbiana Family Care Center and Salem Home Medical. Other participating agencies include the Salem Community Center; Salem Wal-Mart; American Red Cross; Lincoln Learning Center; Salem Public Library; Fun Factory; Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association; Community Action Agency of Columbiana County's Credit Counseling Program; Head Start; Help Me Grow; Salem Police and Fire Departments; Western and Southern Life; Nikki's Violin Lessons and Sweet Violets Diapers.

Contests and prizes

Sponsored by the Charitable Foundation for Salem Community Hospital, the "Diaper Derby" baby races for crawlers ages 6 to 18 months will begin at 2:15 p.m.

A Halloween costume contest and parade open to children though age 4 will follow at 2:45 p.m. Sponsored by Salem's Wal-Mart, prizes will be awarded for the "Cutest" and "Most Original" costumes in each age category.

Pre-registration is encouraged and may be made by calling the SCH public relations department at 330-332-7227.

Guests are advised to park in the Sports Complex lot off of Sunset Boulevard which is accessible by driving through Waterworth Memorial Park.
