SALEM - Helen M. Prokupek, 93, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the Courtyard at Lexington in Salem.
She was born May 8, 1919 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Veronica (Hergenrother) Scheuring.
Helen was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, C.D. of A., a Life member of the Art Guild, former member of the YWCA, and a graduate of Shaler Township High School.
Her husband, Arnold F. Prokupek, whom she married Sept. 20, 1942, preceded her in death Dec. 22, 2005.
She is survived by three daughters, Alice Ann Gunning of Salem, Mrs. John (Jeannie) Fedorek of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Cyrus of Orange, Va.; a son, Dennis Prokupek of Stateville, N.C.; five sisters, Mary Rafferty of Hartville, Ohio, Virginia Haas of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Winifred Ritter and Wilma Haney, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Millie Voll of Tom's River, N.J.; two brothers, Richard Scheuring and George Scheuring, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Vera Mae Gilroy, and two brothers, William and Wayne Scheuring.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Edwards and Fr. Steve Wassie will officiate.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at 5:45 p.m. Monday, followed by calling hours from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
