EP community dinner
EAST PALESTINE - Centenary United Methodist Church at 40 S. Market St., will host a community dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the fellowship hall. The menu includes sauerkraut, kielbasa, pork, mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread, dessert and beverage. Adult portions are $7 and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Prayer Days planned
SALEM - "Prayer Days for the Nation" will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26 at the First Christian Church chapel, 1151 E. Sixth St. All are welcome, either day, any time.
Breakfast buffet set
NORTH LIMA - A breakfast buffet will be available from 7 to 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at the North Lima Mennonite Church. Donations will be accepted. Items on the all-you-can-eat buffet include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and onions, and beverages. Fast Fest in Homeworth
HOMEWORTH - A fall festival will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Homeworth Road. Hot sandwiches, salads, desserts and beverages will be available. The event, sponsored by the Youth Fellowship, is open to the public. Profits earned will help support Carissa Cabassa, a member of the congregation who serves as a missionary with Youth With A Mission in Guatemala.
Kielbasa, sauerkraut dinner
NORTH LIMA -Good Hope Lutheran Church at 12030 Market St. is holding its 28th annual kielbasa and sauerkraut dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10. The meal includes mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread, beverage, and homemade pie. Carryouts are available. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $4 for children ages 7 to 12 and free for under 6. Drive-in movie planned
SALEM - Phillips Christian Church at 35459 Salem Grange Road is hosting an event that is free to the community at 6 p.m. Oct. 27. A family-friendly drive-in movie will be screened with popcorn and pop provided. There will be a variety of soups and chilis and a bonfire. For information call 330-332-4467.
Bazaar at Canfield Church
CANFIELD - The United Methodist Women's annual bazaar continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St. A cafeteria-style luncheon will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public and include bargains of gently used books, clothing, housewares, toys and furniture. There will also be handmade rugs, floral arrangements, gift Items, holiday decorations, baked goods, candies, and the famous CUMC cole slaw for sale.
Proceeds will be distributed to the church's ministries as well as community outreach programs, including Operation Blessing, The Rescue Mission, United Methodist Community Center, Community Chest and Canfield CareNet.
Youth Basketball League
SALEM - A Youth Basketball League (for grades K-6) is forming at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue. Early registration is now open. More details and a registration form can be found at the church's website, www.salemfirstfriends.org. Registration is completed by printing and returning the form to the church with payment. The early bird price of $50 per child ends Nov. 1. Registration discounts are available for children whose parent is willing to coach.
Nov. 1: Early bird registration deadline ($50 registration).
Nov. 12: Final registration deadline ($65 registration) and skills evaluation from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the church. (This should only take about 30 minutes for each player.)
Week of Jan. 7: Practices begin (one 60-minute practice per week).
Jan. 26: First game (all games are on Saturday mornings).
March 16: Final game.
March 24: End of season celebration.
Columbiana Messiah Choir
COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Messiah Choir will begin rehearsals for its upcoming Christmas concert from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 in the auditorium of Heartland Christian School. Randy Hart will serve as director with Joe McKim as accompanist. The concert of Handel's Messiah and other Christmas music begins at 7 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Main Street Theater in downtown Columbiana. Experienced singers are encouraged to attend.
