GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- A Beloit man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a T-shirt from a local business Tuesday morning.
Thomas R. Kibler, 26, 607 Westville Lake Road, was charged with a misdemeanor count of theft after Goshen Township police responded to the Dollar General on Fifth Street in Beloit at 11:45 a.m. where the manager reported Kibler had concealed a $7.47 Ohio State T-shirt in his coat pocket and attempted to leave the store.
According to police, the manager stated she observed Kibler walking around the store pushing an empty shopping cart. She noticed the bulge in his pocket and offered assistance, to which he said he was looking for cookies and then a reload card for his Visa. She said when he went to check out he informed her he did not have enough money and then began to exit the store, at which time she stopped him and he removed the T-shirt.
Officers discovered approximately $15 on Kibler, who said that he did not know why he attempted to steal the T-shirt.
