confidence going into halftime.
"In the second half, we continued to keep possession.
"Then, our leading scorer, Alex Eisenhart, came through for us. Later, Hannah Cochran was able to score an insurance goal for us."
Beaver Local will now play in the sectional co-final against local rival Edison at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon back down at St. Clairsville.
The Wildcats advanced to the title tilt by defeating local rival East Liverpool, 1-0, on a golden goal by Kylie Long with 10:23 left to play in the first overtime period.
Both Beaver Local goals were unassisted.
Maranda Kiddey made six saves in goal for the Beavers.
"Maranda Kiddey came up big in goal," Connor said. "Also, our defense played well. Paige Prologo was the one that stopped that ball on the goal line."
Big Red goalie Loren Gray also recorded six saves in a losing effort.
Big Red had some chances to score during the game, but the girls from Steubenville were able to finish their opportunities.
Edison and Beaver Local met in an Eastern District Co-Final last season. Kayla Prokopakis scored the game-winning goal early in overtime to lift the Wildcats to a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Beavers in a game that was also played at Red Devil Stadium.
