COLUMBIANA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana for James "Jim" Danks, 74, of Columbiana, who died early Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Father Dan Cipar will officiate.
Born July 1, 1938, in Youngstown, he was the son of Francis and Rose (Hackett) Danks.
An Army veteran, Mr. Danks married the former Mamie Norman on Feb. 10, 1962. He worked in the steel mills until he joined the GM Lordstown plant in 1966. He would remain there for the next 30 years, working in maintenance as a booth cleaner before retiring in 1996.
In addition to his wife, with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, he leaves a son, Jim (Debbie) Danks of New Waterford; four daughters, Mamie (John Sr.) Tollas, Rosemarie (Gary) Maiorana, Mary Ann (Mike) Good and Margaret (Lower) Danks, all of Columbiana; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Joyce) of Canton and Bill (Barbara) of Boardman; and three sisters, Dorothy (Russ) Franklin-Sarkes of Boardman, Sally (Carl) Esposito of Liberty and Roselyn (Bob) Mikolich of Struthers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, and also one half-hour prior to the service, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute at Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm and Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263.
