Affordable Care Act program offered

DAMASCUS- The Damascus Friends Church health ministries will host a program about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) presented by Joanne Pickrell, from Know Your Care Ohio and Janetta King, President and CEO of Innovation Ohio from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Canyon Room at the church, 28857 Walnut St. Light refreshments will be served after the program.

The program is the 10th in a series of monthly healthcare seminars offered through the Damascus Friends Church's health ministries. Future presentations are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, with the next speaker scheduled on Nov. 12 being Nephrologist Dr. Erdal Sarac, who will discuss "Living With Kidney Disease." Local resident Randy Weber will also present information from a patient's perspective about dialysis and kidney transplant.

The church's health ministries is a series of free seminars sponsored by Firestone Healthcare Inc., Pleasant View North Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Damascus, Senior Independence Home Healthcare and Hospice, Alliance Community Hospital and Salem Community Hospital. Leetonia joins in library 'Snapshot'

LEETONIA- The Leetonia Community Public Library on Thursday is joining all types of libraries across the state to participate in "Snapshot Day: A Day in the Life of Ohio Libraries" to capture and share information about how important academic, public, school and special libraries and library systems are to the state of Ohio.

On Thursday the library will compile statistics, customer comments, photographs or video and other details representing a typical day at the library. The results collected and pictures taken in Leetonia will be added to those of other libraries across the state to raise awareness about the important role of libraries in Ohio.

Leetonia Schools are welcome to join in this "Snapshot Day" and encourage students and teachers to visit the library on that day.

Salem Lions seniors to meet Thursday

SALEM- The Salem Lions senior citizens will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the CIO Hall. Those planning to attend should call 330-332-5936.

Salem Kiwanis lunch set Thursday

SALEM- The Salem Kiwanis Club will meet for lunch at noon Thursday at the Salem Community Center. Lt. Governor Susan Denning will speak and install officers.

Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will be open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. today. A rubber duckie race will be held at 3 p.m. by the iron bridge.
